I have taught 38 years, all of them at St. Joseph School. For five years, I taught junior language arts, and I taught second grade for one year. Then I taught first grade for 22 years. Now I am back to second grade, and this is my 11th year! I received my Bachelor’s degree from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa--majoring in Elementary Education. I received my Master’s degree from Bradley University, also in Elementary Education. I am single, live in Morton with my parents, and am a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. I love my job!
In 2020 I was diagnosed with a rare cancer of the appendix and had chemo treatment and another surgery, finishing in February of 2021. I had a recurrence in 2022 and went through more chemo treatment and surgery. Now I still see doctors in Peoria and University of Chicago periodically to make sure everything is okay, but am feeling great, thanks to all the prayers of family, friends, and all my school and church communities!

Here are some family pictures: My brother Mark, sister-in-law Ellen, niece Madeline, my mom, niece Claire, my dad (he is now an amputee and gets around in a wheelchair or walker), and me! Mark and Ellen live in Arizona but have a condo in Chicago (handy for my hospital trips!). Madeline is a 2023 graduate at Northwestern University, and Claire is a junior at University of Southern California.
Here are my two dogs! Mazie is a Cairn terrier, and Francie is a Westie!
